Recover from a corrupted registry that prevents XP from starting
Registry corruption can keep you from booting into XP. If you have a non-OEM installation of XP, you can use the Recovery Console to back up your current registry and then create a new registry with the files from the repair folder. It's something of a "last resort" solution, but it can work well when all else has failed. For detailed instructions, see KB article 307545 at:
